CLASSES

What is Gaga?

Gaga is the movement language developed by Ohad Naharin throughout many years, parallel to his work as a world-renowned choreographer. Gaga classes are predicated on a deep activation of the body and physical sensations. We provide a framework for discovering and strengthening the body and adding flexibility, stamina, agility, and skills including coordination and efficiency while stimulating the senses and the imagination. Participants awaken numb areas, increase their awareness of habits, and improve their efficiency of movement inside multilayered tasks, and they are encouraged to connect to pleasure inside moments of effort. The research of Gaga is in a continual process of evolution, and the classes vary and develop accordingly.

Gaga/people classes are open to people aged 16+ regardless of their background in dance or movement.

Gaga/dancers classes are open to dance artists and advanced dance students aged 16+.

Emma Harris

I will forever owe Celine for what her teaching did for my life. She introduced me to contemporary and opened my eyes to dance techniques and styles I had no idea about. I always felt calm enough to concentrate in her classes. I could rely on my thoughts being less loud when she was teaching as she has a calm energy that keeps the class going at a good pace, without any long pauses between exercises so its easier to stay focused. I’m in training to dance contemporary professionally now and am still realising how lucky I was to have been guided and taught by someone who knows as much as Celine, and who also cares as much as she does. Had she not taught me, I would not be where I am now, I will never be able to thank her enough.

Someone that I will forever be grateful for in my training is Celine. She truly shaped me as a dancer and opened my eyes to a whole new world of creating and movement. When I first started working privately with Celine I had no confidence, and I hadn’t found my own voice in dance yet. She really pushed me every week to search and explore outside of my comfort zone and to develop my artistic voice. She helped me so much with my vocational auditions, not just to be physically prepared but also mentally, and she has continued to support me in my journey overseas. I would not be the dancer I am today without Celine - just by watching and listening to her I learnt so much and I constantly refer back to her advice or tips when I am practicing. She is such a beautiful dancer, creator, and person, I am very lucky she has played such a big role in my journey.

Mia Mendoza

Céline’s focus on finding my own artistry and creativity within movement really helped me to grow as a dancer. She is a kind and patient teacher, with a wealth of knowledge about the contemporary dance world. She is also a brilliant dancer, which makes her classes very inspiring. I gained strength, creativity and technique whilst training with her, and her advice and coaching was hugely beneficial in my development as an artist. My time working with Céline was pivotal in my preparation and acceptance to study dance at university. She is great!
